Birth story:
I was born on July, 26th 1996 in San Bernardino, California at St. Berdines Hospital.
Parents:
My mom’s name is Wendy West. She was born on July 23rd, 1967 and was an orphan, given away at a very young age. She was adopted by my grandparents, Sonny and Irene Rhoades. She has always been drawn to California, where she lives today. She’s been all over the U.S and only really lived in California and Colorado for a very short time. She was married at 22 to someone I never met, because her husband entered a life sentence in prison for murder. Then she divorced him when I was around 6 or 7. My mom gave birth to my sister when she was 26, and me, at age 30.
Siblings:
My sister’s name is Frankie Rae Sidorick. She was born on September 4th, 1993. She is my older sister and has always there for me and has helped mold me into the person I am today. When I was too young to defend myself my sister would, and she did it well. She has always been strong, willing, independent, loyal, and overall just an amazing person. Although she currently lives in California and we’ve only been separated a total of 4 years throughout our lives.
Pivotal moments:
When my cousin, Thad Webb, died August 14th, 2013 of cancer. Thad was more of a brother to me in that when I was in trouble or in a situation I couldn’t handle, he was there to save me both physically and emotionally. When he died, I was lost and didn’t know what I would do with my life. I went into a shell for months, becoming more distant and more angry than before. I would lash out at those who would try to take me out of my shell. I just wanted to be alone. It was months before I finally became more outgoing and back to my old self again. This experience made me more understanding of peoples’ feelings and more caring towards people, because they were so caring and understanding of me.
All things that make me happy:
Anyone with a good sense of humor. Watching movies and hanging out with friends. Being with my family. Playing Magic: The Gathering. Playing video games. Listening to music (mainly 90’s music)
All the things that make me sad:
When a dog dies in the movie.
Strengths:
I’m very loyal and trusting, but in very few people. I’m a very good judge of character and I’ll know whether or not if I like a person within the first two minutes of speaking with them or how they treat others. I can tell when a person is down or stressed out just by being around them.
Weaknesses:
I’m shy and usually socially awkward with people and I tend to mumble.
Spiritual Beliefs:
I don't believe in everyone else’s “God”, but I do Believe in doing what's right, treating others right and laughing, loving, and living.
Beauty:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my eyes, beauty is looking up into the universe a little time after sundown where all the colors seem to just be and blend so perfectly, you’d swear it wasn’t real; to see every magnificent thing that there could possibly be out there in the sky and stars.
Friendship:
Friendship is never giving up on the other person, never betraying them and always understanding them. This includes knowing when they're hurt, when they're happy or hearing the slightest stress in their throat and being there for them.
Home:
Growing up, I never stayed in one place for too long, so I never really had an expectation or anything to really call home. So, I learned that home is not a place, it’s a feeling. It’s where you feel safe and are around the people you love who help you grow.
3 characteristics to being a good parent:
1. Trust, you need to build trust in a relationship as a parent, or your child will feel like they don’t really belong.
2. Perseverance: Being able to stick with the child and being there for them means everything to them, whether it shows or not.
3. Keep a level head: Being cool and understanding with a child, especially teens, will help better and help grow the relationship and bonds between the child and parent.
What I need to focus on for the future:
I need to focus on work and in the process figure out my life and who I am, because I’m still young.
Success:
Success is basically getting what you want. To achieve success, you have to passionately fight for it. I do find myself pretty successful considering where I came from and the person I am now versus knowing the potential person I could have been.
What I’m grateful for:
1. My uncle Robin, who helped me get out of California because he wanted me to be successful and have a good life. He believed this move would better me as a person and he knew how hard that would be for me considering my loved ones are in California.
2. My friends, because without them I wouldn’t be able to graduate high school and how they’re always there for me.
3. My health, I am aware of all the sickness and misfortune that people have in this world.
Therefore, I’m grateful that I’m as healthy as I am, both mentally and physically.
4. Everyone in my life who makes me happy and makes me better myself.
Personal code of ethics
1. Give respect get respect.
2. Integrity: Be honest with people but only as much as you trust them.
3. Treat others as you want to be treated.
4. Be yourself.
1. Give respect get respect.
2. Integrity: Be honest with people but only as much as you trust them.

4. Be yourself.

To Whom It May Concern:
Aaron Brann came to Yampah Mountain High School for his senior year. When he started, in late August, he had only 9.5 of the required 24 credits he needed to graduate. I am delighted to note that, at the end of the school year he has earned more than the required credits. He has managed to earn almost 2 ½ years of credit in one school year. This accomplishment is the result of hard work, motivation, and focus.
Aaron has become a valued member of the Yampah ‘family’. He has consistently been the best attendee of my advisory group. He has taken advantage of all the learning opportunities that Yampah has to offer. Besides filling his schedule with all the required classes, Aaron chose to participate in a myriad of experiential learning projects, most of which included strong service components. Aaron traveled to Salt Lake City for the Hera Foundation’s Climb for Life, a fundraiser and climbing weekend to support Ovarian Cancer research. He joined a group going to Mission Wolf, a wolf sanctuary in northern Colorado for a week of service; cleaning cages, and repairing damage from floods and wildfires. Aaron spent a week in Southern California with a school group. While there they volunteered at a soup kitchen. Perhaps the most important experience of all, however, was a weeklong trip to Pine Ridge, South Dakota for a service project on the Lakota Sioux Reservation.
I am confident that Aaron will excel at whatever he chooses to pursue. His quiet nature belies an inner strength that is rare in a high school student. He does not give up when life is difficult or he is faced with a task that seems impossible. Aaron’s calm demeanor belies a sense of humor and playfulness that is an essential part of life. He embodies the character trait ‘grit’; tenacity and perseverance. Aaron will be successful in whatever he chooses to pursue.
Sincerely,
Susy Ellison
